The World Awareness Childrens Museum
extends an open invitation to educators worldwide:
Now in its 22nd consecutive year, the International Youth Art Exchange is a global art share and exhibition program. Your students can participate with others throughout the world, and original museum quality exhibitions of youth art from our international collection are available to you and your school community.
Every year students in many different countries draw for us, and for every piece we receive from overseas, we respond in kind by sharing with them the best that our American schools send to us. You in turn have the opportunity to borrow and exhibit some of the best pieces these foreign schools have offered us since 1987. Our archives now include thousands of original works from over 60 different countries. These mounted and ready-to-display exhibitions of your choice are available for any six consecutive week loan period now through June.
Our 2009 theme is: Changes: Your World - Our World
For our part of the Exchange we ask to receive up to 35 theme drawing by your students. The deadline for award eligibility is April 1st, 2009. Many will in effect become our emissaries abroad when we trade them with foreign schools, so we would like a selection of the best pieces your students or youth community may submit. Some schools hold juried selections and students themselves may choose which pieces to send us. There is no minimum, but we hope that each will be a complete and colorful work of art we can be proud to sharethose who have participated in previous years have seen some of the many fine works we receive from children abroad. Please read the additional details attached under Requirements for 2009 U.S. Artwork. You are of course welcome to borrow an exhibition without submission of student artwork, but the entry fee is waived with any size exhibition loan.
Submissions will be judged in April for inclusion in our Museums Permanent Collection. Hundreds of other best pieces we will share overseas, advising these students as to which country their drawing will be sent. Regardless of honors or distribution, you will receive a Certificate of Recognition for every student whose work was submitted.
Exhibition Loans:
For exhibition loans simply complete and return the Order Form. You may choose any of the regional, cultural or thematic title listings from our folded enclosure, Available Exhibitions for Loan. We ask for an alternative choice should prior commitments require substitution, but all are uniquely selected to best match your own school grades and interests. Every years participation is also an opportunity to build your own school or classroom library collection with our Young Artists of the World book series. These are hard bound in full color, with an individual focus on one childs art and home life from abroad. Select a title of choice at no charge to accompany your first international art display in this school year.
Our many thanks to those with us before, and a warm welcome to our newest participants. If you have any questions please call, write or direct email to art@worldchildrebsmuseum.org We look forward to having you with us on this years global expedition.
