Events At The Museum: Feb. 1st – 9th

The World Awareness Children’s Museum is excited to announce our continuing series of seasonally themed events at the museum for February 1st – February 9th, including our “Groundhog Day Craft Workshop” and “Chinese Lion Dance Celebration”events! Our upcoming events are as follows:

. Friday, February 1st – Groundhog Day Craft Workshop (11:00am – 11:30am): Why do Americans look to a groundhog to predict the weather? Visit the museum on Friday, Feb. 1st from 11:00am – 11:30am to learn about the history of this fun holiday, and learn about funny weather-predicting traditions other countries have! This program is free with admission, though donations are gladly accepted.

. Friday, February 8th – Valentines Day Around The World (11:00am – 11:30am):

Visit the museum on Friday, Feb. 8th as we learn about Valentine’s Day traditions around the world, and make your own Valentine featuring phrases of love in other languages! This program is appropriate for children 3 years and older and free with admission, though donations are gladly accepted.

. Saturday, February 9th – Chinese Lion Dance Celebration (12:00pm – 1:00pm): Visit the museum Saturday, Feb. 9th, 12:00pm – 1:00pm, to see a presentation of the traditional Chinese Lion Dance. Ling’s Wing Chin Kung Fu Academy will delight children (and children at heart) with the traditional dance, said to bring good luck and fortune, and you might even get to perform with them! This event is free with admission, but donations are gladly accepted.

. Saturday, February 9th – Immigration And Heritage: Stories From There To Here (3:30pm – 5:00pm): Whether you are new to this country or many generations in, everyone has a story to tell. In 2019, The World Awareness Children’s Museum will host a forum for storytelling to foster cultural understanding and celebrate the diversity in our communities. All interested people – individuals, couples, and families – are invited to attend this information session. Children may play in the museum at this time and snacks will be served.
