Our 29th Annual International Cuisine Dinner And Auction was a tremendous success! Our sold out event brought together the regions finest restaurants and businesses to help us bring the community more family friendly programming! Our volunteers and staff were amazing, and we can’t thank them enough for all their hard work in helping make our event what it was!

News At The Museum: May 10th – 17th

Happy Mother’s Day from the World Awareness Children’s Museum! We’re excited to announce our series of upcoming events at the museum for the week of May 10th – 17th, including our holiday themed “Mother’s Day Paint And Sip” on Saturday, May 11th, a “Mother’s Day Craft Workshop” on the Friday the 10th, and more! Our upcoming events are as follows:

  • Mother’s Day Craft (Friday, May 10th): Enjoy Mother’s Day as we host a fun flower painting workshop in honor of this wonderful holiday! There will be workshops at 11:00am AND 3:30pm and both are free with admission, though donations are gladly accepted.

 

  • Saturday, May 11th (1:00pm – 2:30pm): Mother’s Day Paint And Sip: The word Mandala means “circle” and Mandalas represent the universe. This art form has been done by many cultures around the world to honor all forms of life. A couple meanings for a flower mandala is love and empathy, so we’ll be painting them to honor all mothers this Mother’s Day on Saturday, May 11th, 1:00pm – 2:30pm! Workshop is $20 per parent/child duo ($5 for each additional child, $10 for each additional adult). Members get a 50% discount. Please call to reserve your spot (space is limited): 518-793-2773.

  • Monday, May 13th (workshops at 11:00am AND 3:30pm): Springtime Slime Making Workshop:  Get creative and silly with this seasonally themed “Springtime Slime Making Workshop” on Monday, May 13th, with workshops at 11:00am AND 3:30pm! Workshops are free with admission but donations are gladly accepted.

  • Friday, May 17th (11:00am – 11:30am): Little Ones Yoga!: Join us on Friday, May 17th at 11:00am for Little Ones Yoga! Led by guest teacher Neha Golwala, little ones will develop proper posture, better balance, and self-awareness in this fun, child-friendly practice. This yoga workshop is best suited for children 5 years old and younger, but all ages are welcome to attend! This program is free with admission, though donations are gladly accepted.

Aliens and Unicorns, oh my!

The World Awareness Children’s Museum has two new and exciting special week long programs coming up during the Glens Falls School Districts spring break (Monday, April 22nd – Friday, April 26th) – “Unicorns, Dragons, And Other Fantastic Creatures” and “Mission: Earth”! Details are as follows:

Mission: Earth – Monday, April 22nd to Friday, April 26th (9:00am – 11:00am daily)

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to work with our outer space friends to make Earth a better place to live! Join us at the World Awareness Children’s Museum Monday, April 22nd – Friday, April 26th, 9:00am – 11:00am daily in a quest to save the planet! Program is suitable for children in 1st – 5th grade.
Cost:
Not-yet-members: $15/day or $68/week
Members: $10/day or $40/week.

Unicorns, Dragons, And Other Fantastic Creatures – Monday, April 22nd to Friday, April 26th (2:00pm – 4:00pm daily)

Join the World Awareness Children’s Museum on an adventure through your imagination with our “Unicorns, Dragons, And Other Fantastic Creatures” event, running Monday, April 22nd – Friday, April 26th, 2:00pm – 4:00pm daily! We’ll fight dragons, fly with unicorns, and have fun with other fantastic mythical creatures from all over the world! Suitable for children in 1st – 5th grade

Events At The Museum: Jan. 1st -12th

The World Awareness Children’s Museum is excited to announce our continuing series of seasonally themed events at the museum for January 1st – 12th, including a “Russian Christmas Celebration”! Our upcoming events are as follows:

. Saturday, January 5th – Russian Christmas Celebration (11:00am – 12:00pm): Learn about Russian Christmas traditions at our museum Saturday, January 5th, from 11:00am – 12:00pm with special program instructor Natalia Carusone! We will do a Russian nesting doll craft, eat traditional Russian sweets, and hear a Russian holiday story! Event is free with general admission ($5, children under 3 are free).

. Wednesday, January 9th – Members Only Mornings (10:00am – 12:00pm): The museum will be hosting “Members Only Mornings” the second Wednesday of each month, 10:00am – 12:00pm, where members get exclusive time to visit and explore the museum. . Saturday, January 12th – Uttarayan Indian Kite Festival (11:00am – 12:00pm): Visit the museum on Saturday, January 12th for a truly spectacular event! Special guest instructor Neha Golwala will teach us about Uttarayan, the Indian Kite Festival! Children will hear a story about the festival, make their own kites, and eat some traditional Indian treats! Event is free with admission and runs 11:00am – 12:00pm!

**And don’t forget about “Early Explorers Play Group”, every Thursday from 10:30am – 12:30pm, which is time for caregivers and their children to visit the museum, enjoy some light snacks, and form a community of encouragement and acceptance. Cost: $2 per family.**

Parents’ Night Out At The Museum! – 12/21

 

The World Awareness Children’s Museum is proud to announce “Parents’ Night Out”, a time where parents can enjoy a night out on the town, or get some last minute shopping done as their children get set to enjoy time playing in the museum, watching a winter-themed movie, and enjoy some light snacks. Cost: Non-members – $20 per child / Members – $15 per child. Space is limited, so please call us at 518.793.2773 today to register (no children will be admitted without pre-registration). **Children must be potty trained in order to attend**.

 

 

Young Artists Competition!

The World Awareness Children’s Museum is proud to announce our Young Artists Competition, with submissions being accepted October 1st through November 16th! The guidelines will be as follows:

Submissions begin: October 1st, 2018.
Submission deadline: November 16th, 2018.
Jury decision: January 11th, 2019.
Finalists art show: January 18th, 2019.

– Entrants must be a resident of Glens Falls, NY and in Kindergarten through 8th grade to be eligible.
– Our theme for the year is “Water, Water Everywhere”. Limit of one piece per entrant.
– There is a $5 submission fee that must be included with the submitted artwork. Payment by cash only, please.
– Submissions must be two dimensional artwork and cannot be larger than 16 x 20 inches.
– The work must be framed or mounted. Complete, artistic, colorful works are prefered (pencil, crayon, pastel, watercolor, etc.)
– A short note about the entrants art is a welcome addition. Please include if available. It should be paper clipped to the corresponding artwork.
– To be included in the judging process for awards, all artwork must be received by November 16th. Please submit art to: World Awareness Children’s Museum, 89 Warren Street, Glens Falls, NY, 12801 or education@worldchildrensmuseum.org.

We will require filling out our Young Artists Competition form, which you can find/download here.

Winners will have their art reproduced on mugs, postcards, magnets, and more!

Any artwork and materials, by submission to the Young Artists Competition become property of the World Awareness Children’s Museum and cannot be returned. All rights are assigned to the World Awareness Children’s Museum for use, distribution or reproduction in the best interest of the museum.
