World Awareness Children’s Museum has appointed Kate Austin-Avon as Interim Director.

Austin-Avon is founder and president of Advokate, LLC, a web and graphic design, marketing and PR firm in Glens Falls, NY. She is co-founder and administrator of the Arts District of Glens Falls. She has experience with nonprofit boards as past Co-President of NorthCountryARTS and former board member of Art in the Public Eye as well as The Bridge. Advokate specializes in services for nonprofits and small businesses and does marketing and administrative work for the Glens Falls Collaborative, as well as many other area organizations, particularly in the arts field in Glens Falls. She is also a mother of two.

“I was at the ribbon cutting for the World Awareness Children’s Museum when it opened on Warren Street, and have watched its evolution with interest, as a person involved in the arts community,” says Mrs. Austin-Avon. “I’ve enjoyed getting to know Founding Director Dr. Jacquiline Touba over the years, and working with the past directors and staff on the Arts District project I’m administrating.”

She adds, “I just love bringing my kids here, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to help in this chapter of the Museum’s story. I believe that the Museum is a real gem. We’re so lucky to have it here in Glens Falls. Its mission hits home harder and harder for me in light of the current political climate, and I’m proud to be a part of furthering the message of appreciation for all the diverse cultures of the world.”

Mrs. Austin-Avon wishes to emphasize that Advokate, LLC, remains fully operational during this time period, and Advokate clients can expect to see no changes in their service due to her work with the Children’s Museum.

A search is on for a full-time director, who is likely to be hired this fall.
